The deer.

Mon Aug 31, 2009 7:39 pm

So, i dont think ive ever shared this story with yall yet. But, in my cars short lifetime, ive already had to replace the right strut and strut mounting assembly. As well as the front bumper cover (still waiting on that though).
The reason was because of a deer. Me and one of my buddys was heading back down here to yuma not too long ago, and he was driving, it was like 1 in the morning, and we were in Central Utah about 15 miles past the I-15/I-70 junction. We were coming around a corner in some hills, im about half passed out, and all of a sudden i hear a loud BOOM (Kinda like a tire blowout) then i feel the entire right side of the car pick up off the ground! I ask Adam what the hell it was, and he announced that it was a deer that exploded upon impact with my G8. Fortunately it was already dead, but still, it was massive he told me.
We pulled over so i could inspect the damage, and i couldnt really see anything except a MASSIVE blood splatter on the front of my car right by the front right fog light, and nothing but blood all the way down the side of my car. And, there were bits of deer hanging from the suspension and undercarrage of the car all the way down to the back.
We continued driving, and found the nearest car wash. (i was going to wait till morning so i could get some sweet pictures, but the smell was too unbearable....)
When i took over driving when we got to the Hoover Dam (Made it all the way there from Salt Lake City on less than one tank of gas!!!), But when i took over, i noticed that the alignment was WAY WAY off! Like, hardcore jacked up! When we got back to yuma, I took it to the chevy dealer and they discovered that the right strut had buckled and the impact had damaged the holding assembly as well as broke the inside of the bumper cover. (Oddly enough, it didnt damage the outside that much, guess the aussies had to engineer it to withstand the impact of a kangaroo)
So my car was in the shop for a week for the suspension work. That got fixed. But im still waiting on the front bumper cover from Holden. It has to come directly from Australia because...well, we all know what is happening to Pontiac. :-(

But thats the story of that! Crazy.
